The prequel to the original Dune tells the story of how Sister Rozak became a Bene Gesserit. The incident with the voice of Vali Harkonen is taken from the episode called “Dune Mentats”. All three books are dedicated to the training of nurses, wards, navigators and surgeons. I don’t want to criticize only the first episode of the TV show, but it was average in every way.
The story was very loose, and the dialogues were not dune worthy
The acting was below par, with the exception of a few notable actors such as Mark Strong, Emily Watson, Olivia Williams and possibly Travis Fimmel. The rest of the actors felt like they had just graduated from the film academy or something. I like slow dramas that take forever because I know the result is worth it. But it wasn’t just slow, there was a lot going on, but it was just boring, I don’t know how else to say it.
It’s like I heard a lot of music here, which had no effect
The soundtrack that wandered through the film was a little broken here and there, some familiar sounds appeared here and there, but the time was chosen inappropriately. I remembered how long in the movies people just talk, and then bam, Hans Zimmer does his magic, and I was so excited. But I know that he did not take any part in creating the sounds here, and I don’t even need to check. I am not sure if Denis Villeneuve participated in this production, I hope not.
Food for thought
My question: how did he like it at all? Will a regular TV show like this, after two epic films, affect the long-awaited third film? What interests me is that The Penguin was so good that it made me appreciate Batman even more than I did after watching it, and I can’t wait for the second movie. So how will Dune: The Prophecy affect the third film, if at all?
