Tale
On Christmas Eve, a family gathers for what may be their last celebration at their family home. As the nights drag on and generational tensions mount, a teenage girl sneaks out with her friends to take over the winter neighborhood for herself. At the 37-minute mark, as people wait for the parade, a giant microphone appears in the lower right corner of the screen.

This is a beautifully shot film that follows several generations of a large family as they experience Christmas Eve, perhaps for the last time, in their family home. Everything we see in this house reminds me very much of similar family holiday gatherings I’ve experienced in my own life. The youngest generation, schoolchildren, see the wonder and excitement of Christmas.
The cast is large and everyone seems very familiar
The director shows us a child’s perspective of Christmas lights through special glasses and how a young boy interacts with his aunts and great-aunts who want to kiss him on the cheeks. Miller’s Point is an Italian family on Long Island, but the holiday traditions they are trying to show could take place anywhere in the United States. The film has a warm feel for a familiar family Christmas.
